]]> Maitland Riverlink is a unique public project in the regional centre of Maitland and makes a new connection between the main commercial high street and the river as part of a revitalisation of the towns central business district. The building is a two storey steel and concrete framed structure with feature brickwork and highly detailed thin roof and wall edges.

The project is a huge success for the community and the new gateway concept acts as a gathering space, with opportunities for performances and commercial operations but also as an accessway to link to the river and grasslands previously hidden from the high street.

]]> Originally built in two stages in 1866 and 1878, this heritage reservoir in Paddington has been converted and its use adapted to incorporate gardens, public access and provision for future commercial space.
The work required structural stabilisation and repair of the existing brick vaulted roof arch structures while safely maintaining the ruined character of the space. New reinforced concrete feature works strengthen the original dilapidated structures while ensuring their integrity into the future and soaring new steel framed shade structures reflect the arch forms of the original reservoir roof with the new urban park made fully accessible via new lift access and ramps.

]]> New structures and extensive concourse associated with the park and pool upgrade works to include new changerooms, a re-fitted and refurbished 50m swimming pool and an underground tri-generation highly energy efficient plant facility. The project features a 140m long folded post tensioned reinforced concrete amenity building supported on a series of sloped columns incorporating a ‘green roof’ deep planted surface over the building, the largest of its type in Sydney. Air exhaust and intake chimneys over the plant room were designed as large diameter public art elements, coloured precast concrete bleacher seating was incorporated and the fence around the project is one of the largest tensile mesh structures in Australia.

]]> The upgrade works to Brookvale Oval have been negotiated with the multiple stakeholders of Northern Beaches Council and the Manly Sea Eagles with construction works staged over three NRL off season periods to include new change rooms, corporate box facilities, amenities and media room building. The final and most significant stage included a new grandstand extension building to the North East which included 1400 new undercover seats beneath an 11.0m cantilever precast concrete roof frame, new toilets, catering and bar facilities and a function / community room.

MM Structural Engineering provided Structural and Civil Engineering services for the project and conducted extensive reporting and structural analysis on the older sections of the existing stands to ensure their continued performance.

The dual layer metal perforated discs are suspended over the roadway with the setout to align with openings to the adjacent markets and they provide partial shade while allowing dappled natural light to penetrate and are intended to be reflective of nighttime street lighting to further activate the streetscape.
