Four Periscopes

This temporary installation at the Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo, was commissioned as part of the Sydney Design Festival 2018 and is the first in a series of annual architectural commissions by MAAS. The project is a playful interactive set of 4 suspended towers with internal mirrors to act as periscopes for museum visitors with view points set across 3 levels within the enormous space of the museums Turbine Hall.

This fun project features slim steel frames with highly detailed architectural finishes all hung from the original truss and crane framed roof but to highlight the sustainability values of the museum and team, it was also designed to have a ‘second life’ pavilion installation option. The project won the IDEA award for Excellence 2018 in the Event category.
