A two-storey off-form concrete structure created to act as an entertaining space, sitting in direct contrast to the adjacent 19th century, heritage listed main residence. The main structural element is the profiled “superbeam”, which cantilevers over 13m (& still beyond 4m at the “short” end) while supporting both the concrete roof terrace over & the molded off-form “planks” to the upper floor. A masterclass of formwork (utilising modern boat-building technology of laser cutting solid MDF & then lining with fiberglass) and general concrete construction by the builder allowed this structure to achieve its full architectural intent.
